We’ve had a pretty decent amount of rain so far this spring in the Charlotte area. Most mature/established landscape plants don’t require much if any additional watering unless there are drought conditions. If you have a newly planted tree or shrub, watering on a more consistent basis is important during the first few years. A refillable bag placed around the base of a new tree is a great way to provide a consistent and steady amount of water. Filling the bag once or twice a week is generally enough during the first season or two. While plants need water to live, too much water can be just as problematic as too little. Watering bags also help reduce the chances you’ll kill your new tree with kindness (Too much water).
